STRAY SERVICE

STRAY SERVICE

Dogotel are responsible for the collection and holding service of stray dogs for Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough. There is no Dog Warden for this borough. We work on behalf of the BCKLWN collecting stray dogs between the hours of 7.30am to 4pm (need to be back at kennels by 4pm), 7 days a week. Dogs found after or close to 4pm can be bought into the kennels up to 11pm 7 days a week. Please fill in the found dog form on the council website as normal and someone will call to arrange.

Procedure
We get notification from the council that a dog has been found
We have  a 2 hour turn around to collect the dog. (see above time restictions )
The dog is bought back to our premises to be checked for a microchip
If the dog is microchipped and the information is hopefully up to date we will contact the owner
If contact with the owner is made we will tell you of your dogs well being and inform you of any information that is not correct on the microchip details held
We will advise you of the Council/Governments fine, which must be paid before the dog leaves our premises and if the dog has been with us more than one day pay the boarding fee
Please note that it is the fine of the Council that is enforced and we collect it on their behalf and to place any issues you have with the council not us
You can only collect your dog within the hours of the kennels, which is 8am to 4pm due to health and safety issues
If your dog is not microchipped when the owner comes forward we will advise you to get the dog microchipped with us (See Microchip page) or please get done by a vet at the earliest opportunity. The BCKLWN will be notified when we put the information onto their system as we flag 'Incorrect details' or 'No Microchip'. You will receive a letter from the council letting you know you have 21 days to microchip your dog or face a fine of £500

If the dog is not collected from us after 7 days then it will go to the rehoming centre and transfer of ownership will be in the hands of the rehoming centre

Any grievances you may have are to be taken up with the BCKLWN as we follow there guidelines
